Dear Parents, have you noticed all the cool toys lately on the shelves at Wal-Mart? Isn’t amazing the level of sophistication and engineering? I means some of these toys are very high-tech, especially the remote control, flying toys; which hover, have rocket engines or fly with such ease? It almost appears if a whole bunch of engineers got fed up with the boom and bust cycles of the aerospace industry and chucked it all to do something totally fun; make toys.
Why is this so intriguing? Well for one if you think of the cost of all the other stuff we buy and the cost of modern technology, you have to laugh, because you can buy a toy scale model which works better per scale the real latest model fighter planes, UAVs, submarines and military ships? Well, then why not put some of these toy making engineers back to work building stuff a lot cheaper than the cost to build them now.
You see I have been watching battlespace Unmanned Aerial Vehicles get smaller and smaller and eventually they will be the size of insects? Well why pay so much for something so small when a toy designer hot shot, who has been designing toys for the last 10-years already has worked out through trial and error all the stability and control issues? Why not hear what I am saying in an abstract sense and well, consider this in 2006.

Memory foam mattresses can be the answer you are looking for if you suffer from poor sleep or constant aching joints. One specific mattress is the visco memory mattress.
The visco memory mattress was developed from a material developed by NASA that was used to help cushion astronauts against g-forces. The visco mattress can react to weight and body heat to give superior support while you sleep. The foam will slowly contour to the body shape while you lie on it, helping to reduce the tension on joints that can be experienced from a standard mattress.
Also known as a visco elastic mattress or memory mattress, the visco memory mattress is ideal for providing a comfortable nights sleep. With the body weight evenly distributed, circulation is improved throughout the body compared to sleeping on a traditional mattress. Arthritis relieve can also be achieved with a memory foam mattress in that it helps to alleviate aches and pains.
With a memory foam mattress, tossing and turning is reduced due to the contoured support that is provided. Your sleeping partner will also notice a difference in that they will not feel movement on the bed.
A memory foam mattress will return to its original state due to the foam structure that they are made of. This mattress will never sag like a common spring mattress, resulting in no need to periodically turn the mattress. A visco memory foam mattress can easily be rolled up, allowing for easy portability throughout the house.
Before buying a memory foam mattress, it is recommended that you personally test out the mattress in person. It also might beneficial to make note of certain makes and models and compare prices online. Make sure to read more info about memory foam mattresses at www.memory-foam-mattress.ez-search.us

Diabetics suffer from an illness called Diabetes mellitus. This is a condition where there is an abnormally high level of sugar glucose in their blood. It is caused by a deficiency of the hormone insulin, which is produced in the pancreas. The pancreas is a small gland tucked behind the stomach. The carbohydrates found in starchy food such as bread and potatoes, are broken down tin the body to produce glucose. Glucose is the body’s main source of energy and travels around in the body via the bloodstream to wherever it is needed. For the body to convert glucose into energy, it needs insulin. People with Diabetes make little or no insulin, so the glucose builds up in the blood reaching dangerously high levels. These high levels of glucose in the bloodstream may cause the person to go into a coma, unless treated medically.
Diabetes in children is becoming more common, for reasons not really understood. In certain children exposure to a virus – possibly a Coxsackie R virus – and/or other environmental factors may trigger off a sequence of events that could eventually lead to diabetes. Diabetes is not contagious. It can develop at any age, but statistics show there are two possible peak ages: early years of primary school or early years of secondary school. Most children affected have Type 1 diabetes (Diabetes mellitus – IDDM). Type 1 diabetes is where the pancreas produces very little or no insulin at all. These patients must inject themselves daily with insulin.
The symptoms of diabetes develop rapidly. The condition is usually diagnosed days after the symptoms appear.
• The child passes enormous amounts of urine.
• Unusual thirst and tiredness
• Weight loss
• Suffers from blurred vision
If these symptoms are not picked up, more serious ones can appear:
• Tummy ache and vomiting
• Heavy, deep breathing
• Smell of acetone on the breath
• The child could go into a coma – This need urgent medical attention
If you notice any of the above symptoms please take your child to your doctor immediately. Your doctor will check glucose levels in the child’s urine and blood. If the levels are unusually high your child may be admitted to hospital. Treatment involved is twice – daily injections of insulin needed to bring the diabetes under control. You and your child will be taught how to administer the injections at home. Some children as young as five years, manage to inject themselves. Children usually take one injection before breakfast and the second injection before supper. A pen injector is more convenient to use than the syringe method. The child must rotate the injection site between arms, legs and abdomen to avoid the build up of fatty deposits.
It is also recommended that possibly another member of your family know how to administer injections, recognize signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and how to treat it with a fast-acting carbohydrate. The child should be given foods such as honey, soft sweets or glucose tablets. If blood sugar levels drop too quickly they should be given an injection of glucagons. Blood sugar levels need to be monitored four times per day. This is very easy to do at home on finger prick samples of blood. Urine tests give a rough estimate of glucose levels.
Children with diabetes do not need a special diet, although they should eat regular meals, with sufficient starchy carbohydrates and fibre, with little fat and sugar. Control of diabetes depends on a careful balance of food intake, exercise and insulin. This may be more challenging in the teenage years.

1. Support the affected arm during activities of daily living. This includes driving, typing at the computer, sitting in a chair and relaxing in your lazy boy at home. Gravity pulls the arm down when it is unsupported, and this increases strain on the rotator cuff. It is best to use a soft pillow or cushion when available.
2. Use ice along the top of the shoulder daily. I always suggest a frozen bag of veggies or soft wrap that conforms to the shape of the shoulder. Be sure to support the arm as mentioned previously while icing. Keep the ice on for 15-20 minutes and then off for an hour. You may ice more than once per day if desired based on pain. I usually suggest icing before bed to improve sleep.
3. Avoid raising the arm overhead in painful ranges of motion unless absolutely necessary. The rotator cuff gets compressed when the arm is elevated above 90 degrees and this often further aggravates the symptoms. This is problematic with getting dressed, fastening the seat belt or placing carry-on baggage in a plane. Overhead athletes will simply need to rest for a given period of time to let the inflammation subside.
4. Do not perform single arm or overhead heavy lifting during periods of inflammation. This position coupled with external loads will prolong your pain and slow the recovery process.
5. Perform arm pendulums (clockwise and counterclockwise circles) with arm hanging down in a dependent position to reduce pain and loosen the shoulder joint up. This gentle motion stimulates receptors in the shoulder joint and helps to increase joint space and reduce pain. This also a good warm-up activity prior to shoulder exercises. You can eventually add a small weight or soup can to increase the effect.
6. Use a pillow under the arm at night to better support the injured arm. I also recommend trying to sleep on the other side if possible, as lying on the sore side compresses the bursa and will typically increase pain and wake you. Another no-no is sleeping with your arms overhead or on your stomach with arm tucked above your head. This is sure to create a shoulder ache.
7. Perform a routine rotator cuff strengthening program within a pain free range of motion. Lower intensity and higher repetition exercises designed to work the rotator cuff muscles are essential to promote healing, reduce inflammation and return you to pre-injury activity levels again. You will not be able to break free of the pain cycle without this type of exercise. More importantly, effective rehab exercises will prevent future injuries and more damage to your shoulder.

A second mortgage is a loan that is subordinate to another loan taken against the same property. They are called subordinate in the sense that if the loan is defaulted, the first loan gets paid off first before the second one. In such cases of default, any remaining money will be used to pay off the second mortgage after clearing the first.
The second mortgages are therefore riskier for the lender. Thus, second mortgage loans have a higher interest rate. They also carry closing costs and points that make them more expensive.
There are different types of second mortgages. In the most common type, the borrower takes loan for only the actual equity. For example, if a property is valued for $75,000 and if the owner has availed a first mortgage for $50,000, it is easy to secure a second mortgage for $25,000.
A line-of-credit second mortgage is another type in which the borrower applies for a loan but does not avail himself of it immediately. He can draw the money whenever he needs it.
Sometimes a second mortgage is taken at the same time the borrower secures the first mortgage. For example if the borrower wants to obtain a loan that demands a forty percent down payment and he has only thirty percent, he can apply for a mortgage for the required ten percent.
A second mortgage loan can also be applied for a value that is more than that of the borrower’s property. But these types of loans are riskier for the financiers and demand greater credit. Moreover, the interest may not be fully tax deductible.
A second-mortgage loan is a good option if you need money urgently. Refinancing the first loan could also be a better option, but it depends on your case. But beware of the transaction costs when you decide between a second mortgage and a refinancing option.
