Many sports injuries cause a progressive permanent osteoarthritis that will prevent a person from exercising to cause the very diseases that a regular exercise program is supposed to prevent. Sports medicine surgeon James Garrick, writing in the medical journal Lancet (December 2005), explains why. You are supposed to exercise. It makes you stronger, faster, healthier and may even prolong your life. However, every time you exercise, you risk injury and many sports injuries last forever. Depression, heart attacks, strokes, obesity and diabetes are all associated with a sedentary lifestyle. A twisted ankle can change an active person into a sedentary one. A torn anterior cruciate ligament or meniscus of the knee has a greater than 50 percent chance of causing permanent pain within five years, regardless of the treatment.
If you tear your anterior cruciate ligament of you knee, you must have it repaired as soon as possible. After it is repaired at surgery, you have an almost certain chance of tearing it again if you try to return to a competitive sport. When your heel hits the ground during running, your foot stops moving suddenly, forcing the upper femur bone to slide forward on the lower tibia bone at the knee. The anterior cruciate ligament prevents the femur from sliding too far forward and shearing off the cartilage in your knee. Once you tear your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), even if it is successfully repaired, you have a weaker ACL that still lets the top femur slide forward on the tibia and shear off cartilage. So running causes you to lose cartilage until you lose it all, bone rubs against bone and you hurt 24 hours a day. The only treatment then is a knee replacement. So anyone who has broken cartilage or ACL in his or he knee should never run again for the rest of his or her life.
On the other hand, strengthening the muscles of your upper leg stabilizes the knee and helps to delay and prevent a knee replacement. Anyone with broken cartilage or a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the knee should try to pedal a bicycle every day. Pedaling is done in a smooth rotary motion without sudden stopping, so it does not cause sudden forward movement of the femur on the tibia and does not shear off additional cartilage from the knee joint. If you pedal against increasing resistance you will strengthen the muscles around the knees and increase their stability so there is less wear on the cartilage.

Treadmills Home Exercise Equipment
Thinking about purchasing a treadmill? I was and honestly it took me about a month to finally decide on one. There are so many different options and price ranges. There are inexpensive ones that start about $150 and the more expensive commercial treadmill priced at about $5000.
After doing my research I settled on one that goes for $1200. If this is something you believe you are really going to stick with and feel you will use regularly I recommend staying away for the low end price models.
The treadmill I ended up with has an incline of 12%. I recommend you get one that goes to at least 10%. The mph I bought goes to 12mph, this I would recommend at least 7mph. What else do you need to consider? I like the space saver models. You can just fold them up and put them against the wall. Be aware thou even folded they are still pretty bulky if you get one with a good size track.
The treadmill I got comes with ifit technology which I was a little skeptical about until I tried it. It is really awesome. You go online and answer some simple questions plug your computer or laptop into the treadmill that uses ifit and it automatically controls your exercise routine. Controls speeds and inclines. If you are new at exercising I highly recommend getting a treadmill with this feature. It is like having your own personal trainer.
Use a traedmill to help you feel healthier, get in shape and to shed pounds and lose weight. I have tried many types of exercise machines and a treadmill by far is my favorite.

When you’re preparing to pass the CCNA exam and earn this coveted Cisco certification, you’ve got to be totally prepared for the many kinds of binary and subnetting questions Cisco may throw at you. You also have to be familiar with the different manners in which a subnet mask can be expressed, and that’s where your knowledge of prefix notation comes in. Prefix notation is an alternate way to express the value of a subnet mask, as opposed to the more familiar dotted decimal format. Not only will you see prefix notation in Cisco documentation, but you’ll probably see it on your CCNA exam. Consider the following two values:
255.255.255.0
/24
Believe it or not, those two values are exactly the same. The first mask is written out in the more familiar dotted decimal format, and you know by looking at those first three octets that every bit is set to “1″, since the maximum value of such an octet is 255.
The second value represents the exact same mask, only this value is expressed in prefix notation. This particular value would be pronounced “slash twenty-four”, and the 24 represents the number of consecutive ones that are set in the subnet mask.
Those of us who hate to type numbers are particularly appreciative of this, since it means you’ll have to type a lot less numbers to represent a subnet mask. In addition, it’s a lot easier to discuss masks in prefix notation than dotted decimal. (“I thought about using a two-fifty-five two-fifty-five two-fifty-five zero mask ,but then decided to use a two-fifty-five two-fifty-five two-fifty-five one-twenty-eight mask…”)
Be sure you’re comfortable with prefix notation before taking your CCNA exam. As with Cisco documentation, you’ll most likely see masks expressed in both dotted decimal and prefix notation, and you’ve got to be ready to use the both as well!

Passing the BSCI exam and earning your CCNP is all about knowing the details, and when it comes to EIGRP SIA routes, there are plenty of details to know. A quick check in a search engine for “troubleshoot SIA” will bring up quite a few matches. Troubleshooting SIA routes is very challengin in that there’s no one reason they occur.
View the EIGRP topology table with the show ip eigrp topology command, and you’ll see a code next to every successor and feasible successor. A popular misconception is that we want these routes to have an “A” next to them – so they’re active. That’s what we want, right? Active routes sound good, right?
Well, they sound good, but they’re not. If a route shows as Active in the EIGRP topology table, that means that DUAL is currently calculating that route, and it’s currently unusable. When a route is Passive (“P), that means it’s not being recalculated and it’s a usable route.
Generally, a route shown as Active is going to be there for a very short period of time by the time you repeat the command, hopefully that Active route has gone Passive. Sometimes that doesn’t happen, though, and the route becomes SIA – Stuck In Active.
A route becomes SIA when a query goes unanswered for so long that the neighbor relationship is reset. From experience, I can tell you that troubleshooting SIA routes is more of an art form than a science, but there are four main reasons a route becomes SIA:
The link is unidirectional, so the query can’t possibly be answered.
The queried router’s resources are unavailable, generally due to high CPU utilization.
The queried router’s memory is corrupt or otherwise unable to allow the router to answer the query.
The link between the two routers is of low quality, allowing just enough packets through to keep the neighbor relationship intact, but not good enough to allow the replies through.
To sum it up, routes generally become SIA when a neighbor either doesn’t answer a query, or either the query or reply took a wrong turn somewhere. I told you it wasn’t the easiest thing to troubleshoot!

Do you remember when our parents used to yell at us to go outside and play? They would get so tired of us running around the house munching junk food and fighting with our siblings that they would practically kick us out of the house!
Well, we may not have the same child-like activities lined up to get outside for anymore, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t still get out and enjoy the world! Exercising outdoors has many benefits, and they include the following:
- Little or no equipment needed to get a good workout – No crowded gyms or obnoxious people to put up with – No driving time to the local fitness facility – No need to put on makeup or special clothing to workout at the gym – Vitamin D enhancing sunshine for our skin – The ability to workout anytime, anywhere – even on vacation – Two words: Fresh Air
There are probably other reasons that you can think of why an outdoor workout would fit into your particular lifestyle, so now all you have to do is learn what kind of activities can be done outside.
Refer to the following Top 7 list of exercises that are sure to leave you sweaty, worn out, and feeling great when it’s all over!
LUNGES
Like all exercises, lunges should be done with absolutely perfect form. When done correctly, a lunge will work every single muscle in your legs at some point throughout the movement, including the all important Gluteus Maximus (that’s the primary buttocks muscle, for those of you not anatomically inclined).
Variations on lunges that require no equipment include; Standing Lunges, Alternating Lunges, Elevated Lunges, Rear Lunges, and Walking Lunges.
PUSH UPS
Push ups have always been one of the most effective upper body exercises, but they have somehow gotten lost in the world of shiny chest press machines and fleets of various types of exercise benches. However, the push up is still an incredibly productive exercise, and it requires no equipment whatsoever.
The 3 basic push up movements include Standard Grip, Wide Grip, and Close Grip. Alternating those 3 types will ensure maximal stimulation to the chest, shoulders, and triceps. In addition, you can elevate your hands to make the movement somewhat easier, or elevate your feet to make the movement somewhat harder.
Also, if you are really feeling brave, you can even throw in some Bounce and Clap Push Ups!
SQUATS
Many people simply don’t understand the incredible power of doing a Squat the right way. Through improper instruction, inappropriate form, and just plain laziness, the incredible effectiveness of the Squat has been lost in the mix.
Variations including Standing Squats, One-Leg Squats, Plie Squats, Wide-Stance Squats, and Overhead Squats. Think you can’t get enough stimulus out of Squats? Try doing 50 perfectly formed repetitions and see how tired your legs are!
STEP UPS
Brutal is the best word to describe this exercise when done properly! Using nothing more than a picnic bench, a piece of playground equipment, or even just a decent size rock, you simply step up onto your elevated surface, step down, and then repeat on the other side alternating back and forth.
By keeping your back straight and your head up the entire time, you will maximize recruitment of all of your leg muscles, and you will get an incredible cardiovascular workout as well. Go for perfect form and you will quickly see the benefit of this great exercise.
CHIN UPS
The outdoor version of Chin Ups and Pull ups can be done using anything from a low-hanging tree branch to any number of different pieces of playground equipment.
When done properly, Chin Ups and Pull Ups will humble most people, even avid exercisers. Bring your body up completely until your chin is at or above your hands, and lower back to the start under control. Repeat for as many as you can do!
UPHILL SPRINTS
Don’t try this one until you can run a good 100-yard dash on level ground! This exercise is just what it sounds like – running uphill. Run up a decent size hill as fast as you can, walk back to the bottom, and repeat. Bring oxygen, but leave your pride at home, or else the hill will take it from you!
DUCK WALKS
This exercise is so simple, yet about as hard as it gets. Simply squat down until your thighs are at or below parallel to the ground, stay in that position, and start walking. Go about 10 steps and then walk backwards to your starting point. Repeat as many times as necessary (which won’t be many) to reach total exhaustion!
As you can see, doing outdoor exercises has all of the benefits listed above including one benefit that wasn’t listed – they are hard! If you are up to the challenge and sick of the gym, give your body and your mind an Earth-moment and get outside and play!

You think spam is annoying ? Let me tell you a spam story that
is beyond annoying and well past anger – and it isn’t about
receiving a few annoying advertisements in your Inbox. It’s
about a particular internet species whom I shall call amateur
spam cops. Let me explain.
I am writing this article as a warning. From time to time I
write business articles for newsletters as a means of promoting
my web site. An article of mine was recently picked up from an
article-announcement list by a larger-than-usual number of
newsletters.
For a while, it was great ! My resource box (similar to the one
below), pointed to my web site and, during this one week in
particular, the hit counter was going crazy. I had ten times the
normal number of visitors.
And then disaster struck. The hit counter slammed to a halt.
Suddenly I was getting numerous emails from potential customers
telling me that my site was down. Now, I had been with Virtual
Avenue for about 3 years and never had a problem, so I thought
maybe it was just a temporary glitch and that the site would be
back up the next day or something. I visited their support page
& asked them politely to investigate.
After visiting the site, I began reading my emails again (I get
about 120 per day, and I download my email twice a day), and
came across a robot message from their abuse department. The
message told me that a spamming complaint had been received and
that they were shutting me down in 48 hours. Well that was
nonsense for a start – they had already shut down all my sites !
The message said that I had spammed someone by sending them a
newsletter. I quote –
***
We regret to inform you that your account dwr9760 will be
deleted from our servers within the next 48 hours because it
violates our Terms of Service, found at
http://www.virtualave.net /account/policies os
Reason: Spam complaints [1311819] Subject: whatUseek Weekly -
The Stealth Approach To Making Money On The Internet
***
For those of you not into the internet marketing scene, “WhatU
Seek Weekly” is a pretty useful newsletter for business ideas &
marketing tips. I have subscribed to it for about a year. They
recently ran an article of mine called “Any Fool Can Choose The
Wrong Career”.
It took me a few minutes of hard thinking to figure out the
connection, but once I worked it out, I was shocked at the power
these amateur spam cops now have. An accusation appears to be as
good as a conviction, at least in the eyes of Virtual Avenue.
It appears this is what happened: for whatever reason, a
disgruntled subscriber has been unable to unsubscribe from the
WhatUSeek newsletter. So instead of just complaining straight to
the publishers of this newsletter, or even to the Host of the
newsletter web page, they decided to get VERY nasty and file
spam reports against every link & email address that they can
find within that newsletter (and it is normally quite a big
newsletter !).
So this person sees my harmless article, checks out the resource
box and sends off a spam report to the Host of my advertised web
page. Even though I have never sent an email to this person in my life !
In response to a single unsubstantiated report, Virtual Avenue IMMEDIATELY
shuts down all my web sites without any warning.
Numerous further emails were exchanged over the next few days,
with the “support” people (now there’s an inappropriate title)
refusing to reinstate my web sites, even though they eventually
acknowledged I was not a publisher of the newsletter and had not
spammed anyone. They had received robot complaints from Spam Cop
and were determined that someone was going to suffer for it. I
was simply guilty by association.
Meanwhile, I have been spending at least 30 minutes daily responding to
all the emails complaining about the site being down, not to mention the
many hours involved with shifting the websites elsewhere. I have lost
bucket-loads of customers due to a false accusation and a trigger-happy Host
who seems anxious to shut-down its own members.
So next time you get annoyed by unsolicted commercial email in your Inbox,
just remember – it could be worse. At least these pests aren’t actively trying
to close down your business.

In my work as a coach and therapist, I have seen many clients dealing with losses of all kindsloss of loved ones through death and divorce, for instance. These experiences are difficult for everyone.
Stages of Recovery from Loss
There are some predictable stages that most people pass through after losing something or someone important. In her work on death and dying, Elisabeth Kbler-Ross outlined five stages of grieving.
Shock and Denial: The first reaction to loss is often the inability to feel anything. This may include feeling numb, weak, overwhelmed, anxious, not yourself, or withdrawn.
Anger: Blaming yourself or others for the loss.
Bargaining: “If you’ll just let him live, I’ll promise to go to church every Sunday for the rest of my life.”
Depression: Feeling deep sadness, disturbed sleep and eating patterns, thoughts of suicide, excessive crying.
Acceptance: Beginning to look for the lessons of the experience.
Kbler-Ross said that the grieving process involves experiencing all five stages, although not always in this order. She also said that people often cycle back and forth through a number of the stages before coming to the stage of acceptance.
Kinds of Losses
Some examples of significant losses are:
• Loss of a person through death
• Divorce
• Job loss
• Loss of your good health when you are diagnosed with a disease
• Loss of a body part through accident or surgery
• Loss of an ability, such as blindness
• Loss of a friend who has moved
• Loss of everything familiar when you move away
Each kind of loss affects each person in a different way, but the recovery process usually follows Kbler-Ross’s five stages.
Recovering from Loss: Some Key Points
1. You are responsible for your own grief process. No one can tell you how to grieve, and no one will do your grieving for you. It is hard work and you must manage the process by yourself.
2. The grief process has a purpose. It is to help you learn to accept the reality of the loss and to learn from the experience.
3. Remind yourself that your grief will end. You will not feel like this forever. You will heal.
4. Take care of your health. Grief is extremely stressful, and it requires energy to manage the stress.
5. Be careful with food and drink. While it may be tempting to numb the pain with food and drink, this can lead to the additional problems of alcohol dependence and overweight. Also, numbing the pain means you are prolonging denial. This will make your grieving process longer.
6. Talk about the person who is no longer in your life. People sometimes avoid talking about the loss as a denial mechanism. However, this prolongs denial and the grieving process.
7. Take time to be alone. In the days and weeks following the loss of a loved one, there is often a flurry of activity with many visitors and phone calls. Added to the stress of your loss, this can be completely exhausting. People will understand if you don’t answer the phone for an afternoon or go to your room and close the door for a while.
Don’t make any important decisions until your life feels more balanced. It can be tempting to make some important change right after a major loss as an effort to feel
more in control.
8. Maintain a normal routine if you can. You have enough changes in your life right now. Try to get up in the morning, go to bed at night, and take your meals at the same times you usually do.
9. Ask for help. You will need it. If you don’t want to be alone, or if you want someone to take you somewhere, it is okay to ask. People don’t expect you to be self-sufficient right now.
10. Let people help you. People want to help because it gives them a way to express their feelings. Staying connected with people is especially important now, and accepting help is a way of staying connected.
11. Keep a journal of your feelings and experiences during the grief process. Writing about your feelings helps you express them, rather than keeping them inside. It also gives you something to remember and review in the future, which you will appreciate.
Writing about your feelings helps you express them, rather than keeping them inside.
12. Avoid making extreme life changes after a major loss. Don’t make any important decisions until your life feels more balanced. It can be tempting to make some important changes right after a major loss as an effort to feel more in control. If you can, put off such changes and decisions until later.
13. Don’t hurry your grief process. People sometimes want to put their feelings and memories behind them because they are painful. But grieving takes time, and there are no shortcuts.
14. Remind yourself that although grief hurts, it will not harm you. Grief is painful, but you will survive and even grow from the experience.
15. Expect to regress in your recovery process from time to time. This is normal. It may happen unexpectedly, but it probably won’t last long.
16. Acknowledge the anniversary of your loss by taking the day off or doing something special. Have supportive people ready to be with you. It could be a difficult day and it’s better not to be alone.
How to Help Someone Who
Is Grieving
1. Don’t try to get them to feel or be anything but what they are.
2. Don’t reward them for acting cheerful or “like your old self.” This teaches them to suppress their feelings around you.
3. Don’t avoid them. They need your support.
4. Let them tell about the loss again and again, if they need to.
5. Recognize that unexpected, perhaps inappropriate behavior is part of the grieving process. It means the bereaved person is moving forward.

If you have had financial difficulties in the past, a bad credit bank loan can give you a second chance to reach a positive credit status.
A bad credit loan is ideal if you want to raise a large amount and have a poor credit history – you may be able to get a bad credit loan even when you have been turned down for an unsecured loan.
Interest rates on bad credit loans can be higher than other personal loans because of the perceived risks to lenders, but they are a readily available alternative source of funding for people affected by poor credit ratings.
Why would I need a bad credit bank loan?
If you have had a County Court Judgement against you that has not been resolved, or if you have failed to repay a previous debt, shopping for a loan, whether secured or unsecured, can prove to be an expensive and drawn-out process. Banks are often willing to loan money to you regardless of your credit, however you will have to pay the cost for your past mistakes, including a much higher interest rate.
A bad credit bank loan isn’t just for those who have outstanding debt. If you are in arrears, have declared bankruptcy in the past year or have a substantial amount of debt already, you may have to settle for a higher interest loan. Additionally, you may be forced into such a circumstance even if you are relatively innocent. Whether you are self-employed or are otherwise unable to verify your income, chances are you will have to apply for a bad credit bank loan simply to “introduce yourself” to creditors.
Do I qualify for a bad credit bank loan?
If you are a homeowner, you are at an advantage when applying for a bad credit bank loan, because you have collateral to offer up to secure the loan. Banks would also look favorably on you if a co-signer with good credit was available who could guarantee the debt in case you weren’t able to pay for one reason or another. And while a tenant who has bad credit and no available co-signer is not in the most favorable position to receive a loan of any kind, there are credit companies around who will step in to offer them ways to improve their credit status, such as secured credit cards and payday advances.
What if I have a ‘right to buy’?
Although homeowners are favored over tenants in terms of securing a bad credit bank loan, there is an exception. If you are renting a home from a Council or Housing Association and are planning to purchase the home you are living in, you are known as a “right to buy” tenant.
In an effort to increase home ownership throughout the United Kingdom, tenants are being offered discounts to purchase the homes they rent, even if they have less-than-perfect credit. If you are in such a position, and you are not in the process of completing a bankruptcy or are currently overdue on a financial debt, you can qualify for a bad credit bank loan under the “right to buy” program.
